The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), in collaboration with the African Union (AU), the African Youth Advisory Board on Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB DRR), and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), successfully hosted the 1st African Regional Conference of Youth on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
Held at the OIC from 6–7 December 2024, the conference brought together vibrant youth leaders from across West Africa to shape a uniquely African approach to disaster risk reduction.
Recognizing the disproportionate impact of disasters on our continent, the conference emphasized the critical role of young people in achieving Agenda 2063, as well as other global, regional, and national aspirations.
Together, we took a step forward in empowering Africa’s youth to lead, innovate, and create a resilient future for all.
