The Gambia National Disaster Management Agency, in collaboration with our valued partner UNICEF, successfully hosted a 3-day Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Boot Camp in the Lower River Region (LRR) in December 2024. This pilot project engaged 50 enthusiastic students from 5 Senior and Basic schools across LRR, equipping them with vital knowledge and skills to address disaster risks in their communities.
With the theme “Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future,” the boot camp provided a platform for these students to learn, collaborate, and innovate, fostering leadership qualities that will contribute to a safer, more resilient Gambia.
Investing in the leadership potential of youth is essential to fostering community resilience and ensuring sustainable development. Together with partners like UNICEF, we are shaping a future where preparedness and innovation lead the way.
