Following the heavy torrential downpours which lasted for almost seven hours, The Voice have talked to the residents of Talinding and Ebo Town in the Kanifing Municipal Council to assess the level of damages incurred as a result of heavy downpours which have forced some residents to evacuate their compounds.
Residents around Talinding and Ebo town, one of the disaster-prone areas in the Kanifing Municipal, have launched an appeal to the government and Kanifing Municipal Council to come to their aids and put a permanent solution to the perennial floods
. Majority of the victims and residents have told this medium that the permanent solution to the problem is the construction of good road and proper sewage system which they believed will remedy the situation during the rainy season to avoid floods.
At Talinding we caught up with the deputy mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Musa Bah who also went out to assess the level of the flood, who told us the plans being put in place by the council in order to find a permanent solution to the problem.
Mr Bah said, the council has been working effective by dredging the canal so as to avoid over flooding during the rainy season, noting that the council is engaging the department of physical planning to find a solution to the problem.
